Availble Area/ Train Services

As the San’in and San’yo regions are right next to the Kansai region, many independent travellers like to combine trips to Kobe and Osaka with visits to San’in and San’yo. With a JR Pass, you can easily explore the whole area by Shinkansen!

Okayama
Okayama is also a major transport hub in the San’in and San’yō regions. Situated on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea, it enjoys a mild climate and abundant sunshine, earning it the nickname ‘The Land of Sunny Days’. Okayama Korakuen Garden, one of Japan’s three great gardens, is a must-see attraction in Okayama City. The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter in western Okayama Prefecture is another popular destination.

Shimane
The beautiful name ‘Land of Japanese Mythology’ refers to none other than Shimane Prefecture. In this land steeped in sacred tradition, there is another stunning attraction: the Adachi Museum of Art, renowned as Japan’s finest garden!

You must reserve a seat before boarding. There are two ways to do this:
1) Go to the station ticket office, show your JR Pass to the staff, and collect your JR reserved-seat ticket
2) Use the reserved-seat ticket machines at any JR station to make a reservation and collect your ticket, avoiding the need to queue at the ticket office.
