The JR Pass for the Okayama, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi Area allows unlimited rides on designated JR railway routes for 5 consecutive days. This includes the Sanyo Shinkansen (including NOZOMI and MIZUHO from Hakata to Okayama) as well as free seating on limited express trains and local trains (including rapid services) within the region. You can also enjoy the JR West Miyajima ferry and regional JR buses, making it easy to explore Okayama, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi.

Designated as a national special scenic area, it stretches approximately 16 kilometers and is one of the few natural wonders in western Japan. Visitors can take a human-powered ferry to enjoy the views of the canyon along the stream in the valley. The highlights include Kurobuchi, Sarutobi, the two-tiered waterfall, the three-tiered waterfall, and the triple waterfall, collectively known as the "Five Great Natural Landscapes of Sandankyo.

Before boarding, you need to reserve a seat, which can be done through the following two methods:

  1. Visit the ticket counter at the station and show your JR Pass (Japan Rail Pass) to the staff to receive your reserved seat ticket.

  2. Use the reserved seat ticket machines available at various JR line stations to make your reservation and print the ticket, allowing you to avoid waiting in line at the ticket counter.


 


Terms & Conditions

  • JR tickets operate under a registration system, with a very complicated booking process. Please ensure you provide all necessary information when placing your order. Please be aware that should any delays in ticket issuance occur due to incomplete information, or should any details need to be amended, passengers will be held responsible and required to pay a handling fee.
  • Valid for redemption within 90 days from the date of issue; tickets expire after this period.
  • The validity period is determined by the ‘DATE OF ISSUE’ (month and day) printed on the ticket; tickets are valid for redemption within 90 days from this date.
  • Valid for 5 days after redemption; tickets expire after this period.
  • Bookings are only available for travel within three months from the date of booking.
  • A single traveller is not permitted to purchase or redeem multiple identical tickets within the same period of validity.
  • Adults or holders of a rail pass may travel with up to two infants (aged 1–5) free of charge. A child’s rail pass must be purchased for the third child onwards. Infants under one year of age may travel free of charge.
  • A child’s rail pass must be purchased for each infant in the following circumstances:

① Where an infant is travelling alone in a reserved seat in a standard carriage (Standard Class Reserved Seat)

② When the child is travelling alone.

  • Luggage regulations for carriages: Luggage must not exceed a combined total of 250 cm in height, width and length (up to 200 cm in length), and passengers may carry up to two items weighing a total of 30 kg (umbrellas, walking sticks, hand luggage and rucksacks are not included in this limit).
  • In addition to the standard JR Green Windows, you can collect your JR PASS eMCO tickets from JR Green Ticket Vending Machines marked with the ‘5489’ service at stations across the West Japan region. Please refer to the official website for further details.
  • When exchanging your JR Pass at a ticket machine, you will need a passport with an IC chip. If your passport does not have an IC chip, please collect your ticket at a staffed ticket counter.
  • Reservations are required for reserved seats. Some trains are entirely reserved-seat only, with no unreserved seating available. Please refer here for a list of trains with entirely reserved seating.

  • [Refund Policy] If you wish to cancel your ticket after it has been issued, you may visit the Green Window at the station to arrange a refund or change, subject to a handling fee (10% of the purchase price).
  • Once the pass has been issued, the start date and validity period cannot be changed.
  • Please exchange your voucher for a physical JR Pass at a local exchange point in Japan within 90 days from the date of purchase. After exchanging for a physical JR Pass in Japan, please activate it within 30 days.

  • Tickets must be exchanged at designated locations in Japan; please refer to the official website for exchange points.
  • Prices are calculated based on the lowest prices of air tickets, hotels, and additional fees on the day of purchase. Actual costs may vary due to currency exchange rates and supply conditions. If costs change for these reasons, no prior notice will be given.
  • Once a travel product is confirmed, all details are non-changeable, and no refunds will be accepted for any payments made.
  • Travelers must ensure they provide travel documents for verification to our staff at the time of booking. Therefore, travelers need to check and ensure the accuracy of their personal information and that of their companions:
  • The English names of registered travelers must match those on their travel documents.
    • The validity of travel documents is calculated from the departure date and must be at least 6 months.
